3 more members have been added to the 9-member committee for auditing 21 projects under ICTD
The interim government administration has been looking into the matter of allocation, implementation, justification and effectiveness of the projects taken by the ICT Division during the tenure of the previous Awami League government after questions were raised about the ongoing evaluation committee of 21 projects with a total allocation of Tk 2,511 crore for the Information and Communication Technology Division-ICTD and its subordinate organizations. Three experts have been added to the nine-member committee comprising officials of the division. Among them, there is a technologist, an accounting and auditing specialist and a government procurement specialist. As a result, the committee of 9 members became 12 members.
The ICT Division has issued a new order related to the question of the transparency and impartiality of the evaluation of the formed committee at around 11 pm on Sunday.
Before this, the committee of 9 members was formed on August 28 for an overall assessment of the goals, activities and benefits of the implemented and under-implementation projects of the division. Additional secretary of ICT Division Mahbubur Rahman was made convenor of the committee while the Joint Secretary Aspia Akhter as a member and Deputy Secretary Md. Siddiqur Rahman Talukdar of the same division were made member secretary.
Apart from them, the committee includes one representative each from Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited (BDCCL), Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) and Agency to Innovate (a2i) under the ICT Division.
By adding new members to the committee, it will be possible for this committee to verify the objectives of the implementation of the related projects and the benefits to the general public, as well as evaluate and inspect their financial and technical aspects. The committee shall submit a complete report within 30 working days of its formation.
